When I exercise I feel on top of the world, there’s no better buzz for me than when I train – whether it be intense cardio workouts through the fartlek method or other exercises like swimming or having a kick of the footy with a mate.
The fartlek method involves exercising at various speeds throughout the workout session. For instance, in running, you’ll alternate from sprints to slow jogs. The difference with fartlek is you’re running at a pace based on how your body feels rather than running to timed intervals. As a boxer, I follow fartlek training to help keep me fit. My upcoming blog on workouts and training will show you how to incorporate the fartlek training method into your exercise routine.
It’s important to remember that exercising gives you energy throughout the day, it improves your mental health and it can help you de-stress. It also motivates you to eat better, putting you in the right mindset to live a healthier lifestyle. You’ll add years to your life by adopting a consistent exercise routine and eating healthily. Drinking lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated is also important, especially when you workout.
Exercising by playing sport is a good idea for young people. Most schools promote physical exercise through sport, providing a way for young kids to get active and fit. Sport gives you goals to achieve either through team sports like football, soccer or basketball or individual sports like boxing or tennis. Team sports are great to keep you fit and are more social in nature where you can interact with others to achieve the team goal together. Individual sports give you personal satisfaction and a sense of achievement too.
